Gaye B. Vance, Ph.D.
Dr. Vance is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years’ experience. She works primarily with adolescents and adults but has previously worked with children as well. She graduated with honors from Florida Southern College, obtaining a degree in psychology. Dr. Vance later earned her doctorate at University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed her internship at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She practiced her early years as a member of a group practice and founded Shelby Psychological Services in Pelham in 1997. Dr. Vance uses an integrated therapy approach that oftentimes includes, CBT, Client Centered and Sand Tray techniques. In 2015, Dr. Vance “hired” her canine assistant Crosby, who works with her a couple days per week. He can be followed on Instagram at Crosbythetherapydog.
Insurance accepted: UpriseHealth, Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Humana (Teacher plan), Medicare, VIVA. Does NOT accept any Employee Assistance Program (EAP) visits. No private pay rates - full rate applies, which varies depending upon services rendered and length of each visit.
If the client is UNDER age 18, the first visit is a parent(s)-only meeting to collect a full history on the minor client.
