Kristen Triebel, (Gerstenecker), Psy.D., ABPP-CN

Dr. Triebel is a licensed clinical psychologist and a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist. She specializes in the assessment of cognitive functioning of adults who have a variety of conditions that can affect cognitive/neurological functioning. Examples of patients she assesses include but are not limited to adults with memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, seizures, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, stroke, ADHD, mild cognitive impairment, and any other medical conditions that can cause changes in thinking abilities, including cancer.
Dr. Triebel previously completed her postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at UAB in 2008. During her 16 years at UAB, she was an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training for the Department of Neurology, Division of Neuropsychology. She joined Shelby Psychological Services in September 2022.
Dr. Triebel is actively involved in the profession of neuropsychology. She has served on the Board of Directors for the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) for the past 5 years – and is currently Member-at-Large of NAN. She was awarded “Fellow” status in NAN, recognizing her accomplishments in the field. She continues to serve on the editorial board for Archives in Clinical Neuropsychology. She has published over 65 peer-reviewed journal articles and 5 book chapters in neuropsychology.
Dr. Triebel also has 20 years of experience conducting forensic neuropsychological cases in civil, probate (guardianship/conservatorship), and criminal settings.
