Ashley Barber, M.ed, LPC-S

Licensed Professional Counselor, Counseling Supervisor

Ashley is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in the state of Alabama. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Ashley proceeded to the University of Montevallo to study marriage and family therapy, graduating with a Master's  degree in 2011. After graduation, Ashley spent almost a decade working in outpatient counseling with individuals, couples and families at a local non-profit. In addition to work with couples and families, Ashley has experience with the college aged population and women facing perinatal challenges such as pregnancy loss, infertility and post-partum mental health. Ashley works primarily with clients 16 years old and older.

Ashley believes the first step in the therapeutic process is to create a space where the client feels heard, safe and secure. After the therapeutic relationship has been established, her approached to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, with the focus on helping the client build insight into problematic thought patterns and their influence on emotions and behaviors. With such a variety of experience, Ashley can draw on other theoretical approaches and treatment modalities in efforts to meet the client where they are.

Ashley is married and is a mom of a talkative, curious daughter and a very busy, energetic son. With the little free time she has, she enjoys cooking and baking, reading, going for walks, and trying new coffee shops.
